Partnering for Systemic Change

Imagine a future where rivers flow freely, agriculture nourishes the land, and technology sustainably and more equitably empowers communities. This is the vision driving Project Biome Global and the SAOSO Foundation, and they’re thrilled to share it with you during their upcoming visit to Geneva from February 15-20, 2025.

Project Biome, a US-registered nonprofit based in Charlottesville, Virginia, acts as a catalyst, connecting organizations and movements to regenerate and rewild the planet. Think of them as the “connective tissue” amplifying the impact of thousands of NGOs working on the front lines of environmental and social change.

Their work centres in Southern Africa, where they’re facilitating a diverse portfolio of projects through the Biome Constellation, Solutioning Hive, and Biome Fellows programs. They’re developing a Living Systems approach that allows them to scale regenerative impact like never before.

Joining us in Geneva is Stella Horgan, Executive Director of Project Biome Global, a champion of community-driven initiatives with a focus on women’s empowerment. Stella’s expertise in ecological and social regeneration, particularly in rural development in Mpumalanga, South Africa, brings invaluable insight to the work.

Also joining us is Matthew Purkis from the Project Biome and SAOSO Foundation. SAOSO is at the forefront of South Africa’s organic and agroecological movement. By uniting the sector through policy, certification, farmer training, and consumer education, they’re transforming food systems from the ground up. Their recent merger with Participatory Guarantee System South Africa (PGS SA) further strengthens their ability to foster thriving local food systems.

We would like to invite you to attend round table conversations on Tuesday 18 February 2025, from 8:00 to 10:00. Alternatively, we would be happy to arrange one-on-one meetings so that Stella and Matt can share details of current and future initiatives more freely.
